Care of your Piercing

Leo | 03/31/2006 - 12:16
While you're proudly displaying your latest body piercing, we ask that you remember what you told you before you left:

(1) Before touching - clean your hands thoroughly. If other people are touching your piercing, they also should have clean hands.

(2) Clean the area of the piercing 2-3 times a day using a salt and water solution. Apply antibiotic cream to both entrances of the jewelry, then rotate in both directions (back and forth). The salt water solution is made with 3-4 teaspoons of salt in a quart of warm water.

(3) Use antibiotic cream for 7-12 days only.

(4) Continue using the saltwater solution (saline) as described above in (2) for one-two months, or until healed. A mild antibacterial soap is recommended.

(5) The ring can be changed 2-3 months after piercing.

(6) Total healing should be expected in 9 months.

(7) At the first sign of infection, contact your Doctor and the Body Piercer immediately.

I have to agree with this person. I had my navel pierced and i honestly expected it to hurt more than it did. It was quick and easy and i admired the way they cleansed the spot which goes to show that they are very hygienic. I also admired the way they gave a detailed explanation of the ways to care for it and they made sure that everything was okay before i left. Thank You All!!!
